Under UAE Labor Law, you can change jobs during the probation period, but there are important considerations. If you resign during probation without a valid reason, you may: 1) Need to pay for your own repatriation; 2) Face a potential labor ban (typically 6 months); 3) Need to compensate the employer for recruitment costs. If the employer terminates you during probation, these penalties do not apply. The new UAE Labor Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021) requires at least 14 days written notice during probation. Always read your contract carefully as it may contain additional terms. For smooth transition, secure the new job first and try to negotiate an amicable separation with your current employer.
